To help you get the most out of your at-home screening, we have provided some essential preparation tips. Following these tips will help ensure an efficient and accurate at-home screening experience.
General Preparation
Time Requirement
-
The screening takes about 30 minutes from start to finish.
- All instructions will be provided in the Reperio app, which you can download from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store.
- Please be prepared to complete the screening within three days of receiving the kit.
- After completing the screening, you will be prompted in the app to schedule a UPS pickup or drop off for the return of the screening kit.
- As with any health appointment, we recommend setting aside time in your day when you won't feel rushed, ensuring you can stay relaxed while using the medical sensors in the kit and our app to complete the guided screening.
Location/Screening Setup
- Use your provided workspace mat to complete your blood panel by placing the blood sensor and provided blood panel supplies on the mat.
- This will prevent your blood sample from getting onto any/all parts of the screening kit.
- This workspace mat is to be thrown away after your screening is completed.
- A flat/stable surface is required for the blood panel portion of the screening.
- NOTE: Be sure to use a table or desk that is not in direct sunlight.
- Make sure you have an area with a non-carpeted surface (tile, wood, etc.) for using the scale.
- This is imperative for the most accurate weight measurement.
Temperature and Clothing
- Ensure the screening kit is at room temperature (68–72 °F).
- Wear a short-sleeved shirt and avoid heavy clothing, such as jeans, for the blood pressure and weight measurement portions of your screening.
Blood Collection Preparation
- The screening utilizes a contact-activated lancet, which requires a finger poke and some blood collection for the blood panel.
- If you’re nervous about this, consider asking a friend or family member for assistance.
- See Location/Screening Setup for how to set-up your workspace for the blood panel.
Pre-Blood Panel Preparation
Similar to any blood collection preparation, you want to ensure your body is prepared and ready to produce enough blood for the blood collection process.
Hydration
- Drink 8–24 oz of water at least an hour before the screening (24–48 oz if your blood tends to dry quickly or you have fast-coagulating blood).
Increase Blood Flow
- Perform light exercise, such as walking, jogging in place, or doing jumping jacks, before activating the lancet to help improve blood flow.
- Rub your hands together under warm water for a few minutes to increase circulation and ensure your fingers are clean, which can help with processing the blood sample.
Fasting Recommendations (Optional)
- While not required, fasting for at least eight hours before the screening is recommended.
- Glucose levels change throughout the day with food and drink intake. You can choose to measure your levels while fasting or non-fasting.
